Our small-but-mighty team of park professionals is in search of an Aquatic Supervisor to redevelop and implement a public swimming lesson program, which is held seasonally on the shores of beautiful Lake Chelan. If you've ever wanted to make a life-long impact on an amazing community, this is your chance!
As the Manson Parks Aquatic Supervisor, you will redevelop our community's beloved Free Swim Lesson program. This program has served thousands of children and adults, and we're looking for an experienced and energetic person to redevelop it from the ground up! Duties include, but are not limited to, program conception, curriculum development, hiring and training of instructors and lifeguards (certain training may be provided), staff supervision, scheduling, evaluation, compliance, and execution of program. Lifeguarding and related rescue duties may be required, in addition to accident prevention and rule enforcement.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
-Hire, evaluate, train, and coach Aquatics staff
-Develop the Free Swim Lessons program, including program curriculum, registration, scheduling, and all communications
-Ensure proper certifications are maintained for self and staff
-Enforce rules and regulations in swimming area and park to maintain safety and order
-Provide immediate assistance to program registrants in danger of drowning or in distress
-Provide CPR and administer First Aid when necessary
-Complete incident reports as needed
-Facilitate daily maintenance and set-up/take-down of rescue equipment
-Monitor weather conditions as they pertain to guest and staff safety
-Hold and document monthly safety meetings for Aquatics staff
-Establish and communicate job performance expectations for Aquatics staff
-Participate in District-approved meetings and media interviews as needed
-Inventory program-related equipment and supplies
-Regularly communicate with Director and Maintenance staff to ensure smooth overall operations
-Maintain knowledge of changing federal, state, and local rules and regulations as they apply to Aquatics
-Notify Director and local law enforcement of disturbances, emergencies, and unsafe conditions whenever necessary
-Assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning if necessary
-Maintain exceptional rapport with park visitors, staff, and program participants
-Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills
Aquatics Supervisor must possess and demonstrate the ability to:
-Swim 500 yards without resting
-Tread water for 2 minutes
-Quickly make decisions under pressure
-Quickly identify hazards
-Take charge while remaining calm in times of emergency
-Concentrate for long periods of time and with frequent distractions
-Consistently act in a professional and respectful manner
-Maintain confidentiality
-Perform rescues under difficult and varying conditions
-Motivate staff and provide constructive criticism
-Accept and provide constructive criticism
-Hear and distinguish sounds and noises under loud and varying circumstances
-Speak loudly to gain attention of patrons and staff
Requirements
-3 years Lifeguarding experience
-5 years supervisory experience
-2 or more years of leadership in aquatics, camps, recreation, and/or community services, with progressively increasing responsibilities.
-Must pass background check
Required Certifications (must possess or have the ability to obtain prior to start of
employment)
-Waterfront Lifeguarding with Deep Water Certification
-First Aid/CPR*/AED
Preferred Certifications
-Water Safety Instructor (if following Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program)
-Water Safety Instructor Trainer (if following Red Cross Learn-to-Swim
Program)
-Lifeguard Management
*Acceptable CPR Certifications include The American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider.

-Must be physically able to perform the proper application of rescue and First Aid techniques.
-Must maintain minimum fitness level required to pass swim tests.
-Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands set forth above.
