The City of Avondale has an opportunity for a Recreation Manager (Sports & Aquatics) in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department. This is a FLSA exempt, full-time position with benefits.

This position leads, coordinates, and supervises a comprehensive recreation program which includes special events, special interest, sports programming, and aquatics for the City of Avondale. Incumbents supervise the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of recreation activities; provide professional-level customer service; manage the budget; prepare market analysis and long-range plans for recreation programs and event delivery. In addition, this position supervises and manages assigned staff. Oversees maintenance, operations, and condition of recreation facilities such as recreation and aquatic centers. Represents the City in local and regional recreation programs and event planning.

Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in program development/management, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Required: A valid Arizona Driver's License at the time of hire. Background check. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE). Current certification or ability to obtain a CPR/First Aid Instructor, Certified Pool Operator (CPO), or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) within six (6) months of hire.
