JOB SUMMARY: The Executive Director position is under the direct supervision of the VLPRA Board, the Director is responsible for the implementation of agency policy and the overall management of the parks and recreation system. The primary function of the Director is to carry out the Authority’s statutory responsibilities and to enact and follow the policies adopted by the VLPRA Board. This position shall be the administrative head of all departments of the Authority, in regards to recreation programming, personnel management, facility development, and business management.

MINIMUM TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management, public administration, business administration or related field supplemented by five to six years of responsible experience in public management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Has knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Must possess the ability to compile and analyze information and present both oral and written reports clearly, concisely, and effectively.
