Recreation Assistants are responsible for support in the delivery of recreational programming for the Village. Employees in this category may have varying duties depending on the area of assignment, but their primary function will be to maintain the safe and efficient delivery of recreational programs and activities.
Monitors participants’ actions and activities in accordance with established timeframes and guidelines, safety policies and procedures, and operating requirements.
Plans, organizes, coordinates and instructs a variety of recreational activities and supports appropriate staffing initiatives.
Responds to inquiries regarding program specifics from various entities; e.g., parents, program participants, the general public and staff.
Develops youth participation and interest in assigned recreational facilities.
Opens and closes recreational programming facilities according to established events and program schedules: which includes checking in registered participants and guests to the facility and organizing and maintaining records of attendance/participation.
Performs routine custodial and maintenance tasks to ensure facilities and grounds are clean and safe and equipment is safe to operate
Prepares accurate reports as needed and organizes and maintains activity/program records.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS OF ASSIGNED AREAS
COMMUNITY CENTER ASSISTANT
Coordinates a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
Communicates with the public regarding program specifics.
Creates promotional materials for special events utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite.
PARKS AND MARINA ASSISTANT OR POOL ASSISTANT
Ensures compliance with the rules and regulations of the marina and/or pool facility.
Assists in providing for the security of parks, playgrounds, marina, pool area, etc.
Promotes pool-related activities such as swim lessons, clinics, and other special events.
TENNIS COURT ASSISTANT
Processes cash and credit card transactions using a register.
Promotes tennis-related activities such as tennis lessons, clinics, etc.
Assists with court assignments and ensures orderly flow among matches.
Performs routine light maintenance tasks to ensure grounds and court areas are well groomed.
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (Receives a $1500.00 annual supplement)
Maintains a valid Florida driver’s license, class “B” CDL or higher with a passenger endorsement.
Assists by driving the recreational vehicle for scheduled activities and camps.

High school diploma/GED.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
Experience working with youth or adults in recreational sports, arts or related activities.
Knowledge of principles, practices and philosophy of recreation.
Knowledge of First Aid/CPR.
Tasks include the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and involving the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Tasks are performed in outdoor environments which may include the potential for exposure to inclement weather conditions.
