The Tennis Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the North Palm Beach Country Club (NPBCC) Tennis Center which includes planning and coordinating activities with other departments, groups, and private/public entities and directing full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff members to accomplish assigned tasks. In addition, the Supervisor’s duties include daily management of the tennis courts and tennis shop to ensure community safety and physical integrity of the facility and its amenities. The Tennis Supervisor is a direct report to the General Manager of the NPBCC.
Supervises all operational and maintenance functions at the Tennis Center and adheres to all relevant policies and procedures in terms of safety, discipline and employment practices.
Assists in the interviewing, selection, training, and evaluation of staff members, instructors, coaches, interns and volunteers and may be involved in fee negotiations/arrangements with contracted employees.
Plans, organizes, coordinates and instructs a variety of tennis programs, camps and related activities.
Ensures all proper accounting and banking procedures are followed when processing cash/check/POS transactions associated with memberships, court registrations, etc.
Uses RecTrac to implement all set ups for classes, trips, player leagues, programming, memberships, etc.
Leads and promotes tennis membership programs and activities to Village residents as well as non-residents in order to increase member enrollment, retention and department revenues.
Ensures customer-oriented staff provide a positive and enjoyable environment to players and guests through effective training and leadership.
Prepares and maintains all forms, reports and records required for the accountability and evaluation of programs and services.
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with program participants, community and neighborhood groups, volunteers, other employees and the public at large.
Coordinates with Club Administration in developing and promoting community participation and interest in tennis center activities through an active public relations/marketing program which includes dissemination of publications, flyers, and other promotional literature and recruitment of dynamic instructors and responsive service providers/vendors.
Facilitates professional development among staff and provides the necessary resources and opportunities to subordinates to support them in the attainment of their goals and objectives.
Processes purchase requisitions, takes regular inventory, and controls use and disbursement of equipment and supplies.
Prepares/submits budget information at regular intervals and closely monitors operating budget revenues and expenses to ensure compliance with established fiscal parameters.
Assists with the development and implementation of departmental goals, priorities and policies as well as ensures collaboration with other Village departments and external stakeholders.
Manages special projects and keeps abreast of the latest developments and issues impacting country club and leisure services on a local, state and national level.
Enforces departmental and Village rules and regulations in a consistent and fair manner, using tact, firmness and good judgment in the resolution of issues.
Works directly with the Head Tennis Professional in the areas of programming, instruction, membership growth and member relations.

High school diploma/GED with preference for an Associate or Bachelor degree in hospitality/leisure services, public or business administration, recreational science or a related field.
Five (5) years of successful work experience in an organized tennis facility, club, resort or recreational setting (municipal or other government-related setting helpful), including at least two (2) years of administrative or supervisory responsibility. [With evidence of Bachelor degree, three (3) years of tennis management experience required.]
Professional certification as recognized by the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) or other comparable nationally recognized tennis organization or affiliation preferred (with additional preference for familiarity with the Palm Beach County Women’s Tennis Association).
Knowledge of both the game of tennis as well as best modern practices in tennis facility operations.
Knowledge of tennis programming and/or specialized job functions (e.g., tournament/event programming, retail/merchandising, seasonal camps, league teams, etc.).
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and philosophy of country club, recreational and/or leisure services and programs.
Firsthand knowledge and practical application of first aid and CPR.
Knowledge of current computing technologies and software applications appropriate to the position’s job responsibilities with preference in RecTrac and/or MUNIS software.
Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills in conjunction with strong organizational, sound decision making and exemplary customer service skills.
Ability to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/ or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Some tasks may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavier objects.
The employee may be exposed to outside climate conditions and subject to unpleasant atmospheric elements such as humidity, temperature extremes or ultraviolet rays although much of the work is performed under normal office conditions.
