 Austin Parks and Recreation 
 Austin Parks and Recreation (APR) has stewarded the City of Austin&#39;s public lands since 1928. As such, the department protects and maintains parkland and the city&#8217;s urban forest.  What to Expect in the Role 
 The selected candidate will lead a team that provides administrative operations and support functions to various divisions within the department and to the community. Additionally, the position will serve on the executive leadership team, providing subject matter expertise in close collaboration with the Director, Deputy Director and other Assistant Directors, and represent Austin Parks and Recreation in navigating interdepartmental, City Council and City Manager Office business.&#xa0; 
 The role includes responsibility for finance; contracts, procurement, and grants; communications and engagement; human resources; intergovernmental relations; equity; information technology; records management; and partnerships, with a scope that includes 5 direct reports and approximately 65 employees. 
 Initial priorities may include coordinating initiatives related to Citywide strategic plans and departmental work plans, working with Austin Government Relations on Citywide priorities including Federal, State and Local legislative initiatives and grants, participating in the next iteration of the  Long Range Plan , and supporting organizational development and operational efficiency improvements.

This position exists to supervise the implementation and integration of all Division of Parks and Trails programs, activities, polices, budgets, and rules for all units located in the Southern Region, District 9.

 Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, contract documents, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for project designs. 
 Designs and develops conceptual and master plan park projects. 
 Performs professional and technical work in planning, designing consultant supervisory work and coordinating the construction of parks and recreation facilities; and provides responsive assistance to staff, other departments, and external stakeholders

 Manages all design phases of capital projects by working with design firms and other city departments to ensure projects comply with all ordinances and requirements.

 Prepares grant applications and administers grant programs including reimbursement and payment processes. 
 
 
 
 Field Investigations and Research: 
 
 
 
 Conducts field investigations, parks and greenway surveys, impact studies, or other research to compile and analyze data on economic, social, regulatory, and physical factors affecting parks and greenway projects.

 JOB DESCRIPTION :&#xa0; The Program Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operations of recreation facilities including the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, Gertner Field, CRWC Field, and tennis courts including budgetary planning, developing reports, and participating in the long-term planning.&#xa0; Evening, weekend, and holiday hours required.&#xa0; 
 Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 
 
 Direct the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of a operations staff; Provide feedback, instruction, and guidance to support professional growth of staff and to ensure departmental initiatives are accomplished&#xa0; 
 Provide leadership and management for facilities and operations to include facility inspections, cleanliness, maintenance, and documentation; Contribute to the development of routine and preventative maintenance plans, procedures and assist with management of their execution; assist with coordination of the repair and replacement of equipment 
 Assess, evaluate, and mitigate risk for all facilities to ensure compliance with university, local and state standards, as well as follow industry standards;&#xa0;Contribute to departmental risk and safety plans; apply policies and procedures 
 Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with both internal and external partners within the Division, academic units, and external groups; Contributes to the development and execution of partner agreements and the scheduling and execution of events; Serve as point of contact on day of for large scale rentals and events 
 Develop, administer, and analyzes operations budget, financial records, and payroll processes; Maintains accurate records and creates various administrative reports including semester reports, assessment reports, and others; Contributes to long range strategic planning and assessment for operations 
 Other duties as assigned&#xa0; 
 QUALIFICATIONS:&#xa0;  
 A Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Exercise Physiology, Health Education, Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, or related field.&#xa0; Master&#8217;s degree preferred.&#xa0; Minimum requirements are at least three years of experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity with an emphasis on staff development, fiscal management, and facility operations/management. The ideal applicant will have a minimum of 5- years of progressive experience.&#xa0; Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated leadership ability are also desirable.&#xa0; Team oriented ideals, willingness to work hard, and a desire to learn is important in this position.&#xa0;

 As the Manager for Pikes Peak America&#39;s Mountain, you will: 
 
 Manage interpretive and customer service programs for approximately one million annual visitors accessing the summit of Pikes Peak via the highway, Broadmoor Cog Railway, and major trail systems. 
 Oversee highway maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and facility operations along the Pikes Peak Highway Recreation Corridor in partnership with the United States Forest Service. 
 Manage maintenance, resource stewardship, and recreation activities for the North and South Slope Recreation Areas in coordination with Colorado Springs Utilities. 
 Oversee access and seasonal maintenance for the United States Army High Altitude Research Lab in partnership with the United States Army. 
 Manage the concessionaire contract with Aramark for food, retail, custodial, and medical services at Pikes Peak America&#39;s Mountain visitor centers. 
 Coordinate with Colorado Parks and Wildlife on recreational fishing, wildlife education, and limited hunting opportunities across multiple recreation areas. 
 Collaborate with El Paso and Teller County Search and Rescue teams to support emergency response and visitor safety operations. 
 Coordinate logistics for large-scale special events including the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Pikes Peak Marathon &#38; Ascent, AdAmAn, and Cycle to the Summit. 
 Develop and manage contracts, permits, budgets, environmental compliance, and infrastructure assessments across the recreation corridor and reservoir areas. 
 Supervise full-time and seasonal staff while maintaining strong partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies and staying current on industry trends and best practices.
