The City of Sioux City is seeking a dedicated Recreation Coordinator to join our Parks and Recreation Department team.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning, supervising, and overseeing daily operations for Cone Park, Recreation programs, and Aquatics.

Typical work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Some evenings and weekends are required based on seasonal programming and scheduled events.
Duties:
Supervises and evaluates the work of a subordinate staff; effectively recommends personnel actions related to selection, performance, leaves of absence, grievances, work schedules and assignments, disciplinary procedures and administers personnel and related policies and procedures.
Solicits the services of, and trains volunteers, as necessary, to satisfactorily coordinate events held through the Parks and Recreation Department.
Responds to inquiries, complaints and requests from the general public.
Assists with social media management for the department.
Coordinates daily operations/private rentals at such facilities such as: Cone Park, Expo Center, Swimming Pools and other City recreation facilities.
Create, implement, and oversee recreational programming.
Participates in short-term and long-term strategic planning efforts for programming, Cone Park, Expo Center, swimming pools and other Departmental facilities and programs as assigned.
Flexibility to occasionally work outside regular office hours.
Setup tables, chairs, audio-visual, concession, soccer goals, basketball hoops, aquatic and other equipment as needed for scheduled events.
Maintains regular and punctual attendance at work.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Recreation Superintendent.
Expected to temporarily perform duties outside of normal classification in the event of a declared emergency. In the event that an employee is excused from work other than being sick, they will be required to report to work in a state of declared emergency.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified within 30 days of being hired. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Leisure Studies, Parks and Recreation or a related field; or Graduation from an accredited area college with an Associate’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field and 2 years of full-time experience in the recreation field; or Four years of full-time work experience in recreation, facility management or closely related field. or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
All employees must reside within thirty (30) miles of Sioux City limits, which includes areas in neighboring Nebraska and South Dakota.
