Assists the Community Services Director with the management and oversight of assigned staff. Organizes, plans, directs, manages, and evaluates the functions of the Recreation Division. Provides highly responsible, complex managerial support, executive-level assistance, and policy analysis to the department director on operational and departmental issues. Assists in formulating and implementing department policies, makes recommendations on operational and managerial problems, long-range plans, and programs. Performs related work as required or assigned.
Performs administrative work involved in leading, planning, organizing, maintaining, and directing activities and projects of the Recreation Division. Works with the director to develop short and long-term planning, programs, and budgets. Responds to requests from internal and external customers for recreation programs and services, special events, facilities and operations, and contractual employees.
Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Community Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Public Administration, or related field plus four (4) years experience in coordinating and managing community recreation programs; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Two (2) years supervisory experience required; three (3) years preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Required:
Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License, maintain automobile insurance coverage, and have access to an automobile.
Preferred:
CPRP, and/or CPRE
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or have had training in the past
