This role is a key member of the Athletics and Recreation Leadership team. As the Assistant Director, you will have oversight for planning, preparation, and execution of Geneseo athletics games, events, external rentals, and facilities. You will have additional oversight of all aspects of Athletic Facility scheduling and will provide administrative support for purchasing, budget record-keeping, Foundation expenses, and cash management.

&#8226;       Provide healthcare services for intercollegiate student-athletes under the direction of licensed physicians, podiatrists, or dentists;
&#8226; Recognize, evaluate, assess and treat athletic injuries/illnesses or refer to medical professionals/services, and to provide immediate or follow-up care;
&#8226; Provide injury/illness prevention and risk management services for student-athletes; Provide treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning programs in consultation with coaches and student-athletes.
&#8226;Assist Head Athletic Trainer with administrative responsibilities (student work study supervision, supplies/equipment inventory, facility maintenance, and medical record keeping).
&#8226;Provide consultation to the student-athlete and coach regarding injury status, clearance, and the ability to perform while maintaining proper confidentiality of student-athlete&#39;s medical history.
&#8226;Educate student-athletes, coaches, and staff on latest medical guidelines including, but not limited to, injury, illness, alcohol, and drugs.
&#8226;Ensure appropriate coverage for practices, home games, and travel with assigned teams.
&#8226;Maintain accurate, complete, and precise injury documentation on student-athletes.
&#8226;Maintain direct, complete, honest communication with the Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Athletics &#38; Recreation.
&#8226;Create and display informative bulletin board topics monthly.
&#8226;Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties

Reports To: Director of Athletics and Recreation &#38; Head Athletic Trainer (Dual Reporting Line)

Position Summary: The Assistant Athletic Trainer serves sport programs and student-athletes by providing comprehensive health care to include preventive and rehabilitative care of injuries. They serve as a role model in meeting the complementary goals of the Athletics and Recreation Department.

Special Working Conditions: Regular evening and weekend hours are required. Position is a full-time, 12-month appointment.


 Skills, Characteristics Required for Position &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Demonstrated ability to help student-athletes with new/recurring injuries recover physically and emotionally; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cooperatively with medical staff and students; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Ability to clearly, accurately, and fully complete medical forms related to injuries and insurance coverage and to maintain required medical records; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Excellent organizational and program design skills; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of holistic education; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and professional development; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Remain up-to-date with the athletic training profession and related fields; &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0;Maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Description   The Assistant Athletic Trainer, will assist and serve under the supervision of the Associate Director for Athletic Training, Student Wellness and Academic Success as an athletic trainer for all student-athletes at Pratt Institute. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must be able to build positive relationships with scholar-athletes, coaches, staff, and campus partners.  The Assistant Athletic Trainer is a full time, 10 month position (Mid-August to Mid-May). The Athletics and Recreation Department is committed to providing a wide range of activities and services that assist Pratt students of various backgrounds and abilities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Pratt Institute has an athletics history dating back to the founding of the institution. Currently, Pratt is a member of NCAA Division III and the Atlantic East Conference (AEC). Examples of Duties   Assists the Associate Director for Athletic Training, Student Wellness and Academic Success for all sports and provides coverage for all athletic teams. Helps develop and implement policies and procedures for athletic training programs. Arranges for and assists with pre-season physical examinations for all sports; and helps coordinate physical screenings to detect pre-existing conditions that would limit or prevent participation in intercollegiate athletics. Responsible for working in conjunction with other health care providers with regard to student-athlete care and rehabilitative protocols. Provide care for visiting teams when they are unable to provide their own medical staff. Helps facilitate educational training programs for student-athletes, coaches, staff, and athletic personnel with regards to athletic training procedures, basic injury care, concussion signs, symptoms, and protocols, heat acclimatization, and other health related protocols. Record keeping and documentation of walk-in visits, injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitative procedures. Provide scheduled walk-in care hours for student-athletes. Provide student-athletes with preventative care techniques, injury evaluation, emergency care, wound care, mental health care, physician or other health care provider referral, and rehabilitative care. Provide guidance in connecting student-athletes with various on-campus resources such as health services, learning access center, and counseling center Travel related to conference and NCAA tournaments, as needed. Keep abreast of NCAA, conference and departmental rules and regulations Attend department and division meetings. Support and attend department and campus functions (i.e.: Accepted Students Day, The Charlies, Orientation) as directed Complete campus trainings (i.e.: Title IX) Other duties as assigned.
