 Essential Responsibilities: &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; 
 
 
 Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and institution as well as the rules and regulations of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), MAC Freedom, the NCAA, and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program. 
 
 
 Complete all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs and participate in available professional development opportunities. 
 
 
 Perform in service training and drills to help educate and further staff development. 
 
 
 Serve as a member of our CARE team on campus and assist with outreach to students when necessary or delegate this responsibility as appropriate to another member of the sports medicine staff. 
 
 
 Serve as the Athletics Health Care Administrator designee for the NCAA. Responsible for receiving, disseminating, and monitoring health and safety legislation, resources, and inter-association recommendations from the NCAA. 
 
 
 Maintain required continuing education units by the National Athletic Trainers Association along with the New Jersey Athletic Training Licensure and ensure that all sports medicine staff comply. 
 
 
 Annually update all the Sports Medicine protocols and procedures, such as the department&#8217;s emergency action plan and concussion protocols, in conjunction with the team physicians, and disseminate to the athletic department. 
 
 
 Coordinate medical coverage for all home varsity events and practices including both traditional and non-traditional seasons. 
 
 
 Ensure proper medical clearance at the start of each academic year for all student athletes through completion of appropriate medical forms. 
 
 
 Manage the sports medicine inventory of equipment and supplies and place new orders as necessary. Monitor maintenance of all equipment and ensure that it is in good working order. 
 
 
 Oversee all budget related items for the Sports Medicine Office. Manage the processing of the team physicians&#8217; contracts and annual insurance claims. 
 
 
 Serve as liaison to health insurance companies and provide solutions and answers to health insurance questions. 
 
 
 Collaborate with team physicians to coordinate campus clinic schedules, off campus appointments, evaluations, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation, and medical clearances. 
 
 
 Oversee and direct physical therapy needs including working with an outside physical therapy clinic for long term and chronic injuries. 
 
 
 Supervise the weather conditions through the office&#8217;s weather monitoring system to make sure environmental conditions are safe for intercollegiate sport contests. 
 
 
 Oversee the evaluation of all injuries with team physicians and ensure appropriate action is advised. 
 
 
 Responsible for keeping the appropriate individuals aware of current health care issues as they may arise to help ensure their overall well-being and safety. 
 
 
 Organize, maintain, and make certain that the sports medicine office is always sanitary and in good working order. 
 
 
 Supervise sports medicine staff to include the assistant athletic trainers, part-time athletic trainers, outside staff, and work study students. Devise a weekly work schedule of coverage for all team members. 
 
 
 Work directly with the Director of Student Health Services, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, Dean of Students, Director of Disability Services, dietician and the strength and conditioning staff concerning any health matters and maintain strong open communication. 
 
 
 Arrange educational events during National Athletic Training Month to promote health and wellness or assign to a designee. 
 
 
 Maintain medical records and ensure appropriate privacy and record retention methods are in order. 
 
 
 Regular day, early morning, evening, and weekend hours are required. Some travel is involved with various teams as necessary. 
 
 
 Serve on the department&#8217;s senior administrative staff council to assist in formulating departmental policies and procedures, decision making, and general oversight of department operations. 
 
 
 Other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics or Senior Associate Director of Athletics.

 Compensation Range 
 In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $71,000.00 - $97,066.67. This range represents the University&#8217;s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position&#8217;s scope and responsibilities, the candidate&#8217;s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components. SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
Manage and supervise the assistant athletic trainer and student workers. Responsibilities include interviewing athletic training staff, hiring athletic training staff, training of employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
EDUCATION:
Essential: Master&#8217;s Degree in related field
 
EXPERIENCE
Essential: 2+ years of athletic training experience at the collegiate level.
 
Desirable: 3+ years of collegiate athletic training experience.
 
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid driver&#8217;s license.  CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.  Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).  Licensed or eligible in the state of Illinois.

 SUMMARY STATEMENT:&#xa0;&#xa0; This position will provide athletic training services for the athletes of the college&#8217;s intercollegiate sports teams and athletic events sponsored by the College. &#xa0;This is a 12-month position. 
 &#xa0; 
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES A. &#xa0; &#xa0;Provide athletic training services to the Hagerstown Community College Athletes.  
 1. &#xa0; &#xa0;Onsite care and management of student athletes&#8217; injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation and treatment.&#xa0; 
 2. &#xa0; &#xa0;Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion.&#xa0; 
 3. &#xa0; &#xa0;Develop and monitor rehabilitation plans for affected athletes. 
 4. &#xa0; &#xa0;Conduct and review athlete intake documentation for clearance and maintain electronic records, including all patient encounters.&#xa0; 
 5. &#xa0; &#xa0;Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customize preventative strategies to suit athletic teams. 
 6. &#xa0; &#xa0;Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations.&#xa0; 
 7. &#xa0; &#xa0;Communicate with physicians, coaches and athletic staff regarding the injury status of athletes, while complying with HIPPA and FERPA regulations. 
 8. &#xa0; &#xa0;Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures.&#xa0; 
 9. &#xa0; &#xa0;Provide coverage for all home games/contests, practices and college sponsored athletic events (within the allotted time, as recommended per the Director of Athletics and ARCC). 
 10. &#xa0; &#xa0;Annually update the EAP, distribute and review with the athletics staff. 
 11. &#xa0; &#xa0;Maintain certifications and licensures associated with the position. 
 &#xa0; 
 B. &#xa0; &#xa0;Coordinate programs with the athletic department. 
 1. &#xa0; &#xa0;Assist the athletic department with responsibilities associated with sports information. 
 2. &#xa0; &#xa0;Responsible for administrative and other duties, as assigned by supervisor. 
 3. &#xa0; &#xa0;Recommend the annual budget for athletic training supplies and equipment. 
 4. &#xa0; &#xa0;Coordinate CPR/AED training for coaching and athletics support staff as needed, as well as general emergency care training. 
 5. &#xa0; &#xa0;Work with the Fitness Center Coordinator to develop and/or adjust strength training program to suit athletic team needs related to injury rate trends. 
 6. &#xa0; &#xa0;Coordinate training programs for coaches to educate their players on topics such as appropriate nutrition, communicable diseases, substance abuse/misuse, head injury care, mental health etc. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:&#xa0;  Bachelor&#8217;s Degree required in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related field, from an accredited college or university. &#xa0;Master&#8217;s Degree preferred. &#xa0;NATABOC certification (National Athletic Trainers&#39; Association Board of Certification). &#xa0;A minimum of one year&#8217;s experience working as an ATC is preferred. &#xa0;Current CPR/AED/First Aid instructor certification required. If hired without a master&#8217;s degree, the employee would be required to obtain one within a pre-determined timeframe. Maryland licensure eligible/approved prior to start date.&#xa0; 
 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:&#xa0;  The individual will display strong oral, written and interpersonal skills. &#xa0;This position requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend work to accommodate the athletic program.

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT:&#xa0;&#xa0; This position is housed in the Athletic Recreation and Community Center as well as outdoor and off campus athletic venues used in support of HCC athletics. &#xa0;Athletic/exercise environment involving frequent interruptions of a routine or emergency nature. &#xa0;Individual should be able to lift and move weight as necessary to perform the functions of the job, and be prepared for exposure to weather, also as a function of the job.

Description   The Assistant Athletic Trainer, will assist and serve under the supervision of the Associate Director for Athletic Training, Student Wellness and Academic Success as an athletic trainer for all student-athletes at Pratt Institute.
