The ideal candidate in this position will be someone who is passionate about youth development, staff development, and creating memorable recreation experiences. The Recreation Program Coordinator helps develop and support before and after school programs, school break camp programs, ongoing youth activities, and special events. This role will encourage participation, learning, and fun for Reno youth and families.  The role also fosters teamwork, growth, training, and morale for our part time and permanent subordinate staff. 

We are looking for a collaborative professional who can oversee and assess programs, supervise and continually coach part-time staff, communicate effectively with the public and partner organizations, and contribute to a positive team environment. 

We currently have one vacancy in the Parks and Recreation Department in which hiring will begin immediately following the close of this recruitment. This recruitment will also establish a list for future vacancies, which will be filled as they occur.

Minimum Qualifications

The following minimum qualifications are required to be met at the time of application.
 
Education/Training:
High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by college level course work in recreation, leisure services, public administration, business administration, or a related field.

*Six months of recreation related administrative work experience beyond the one year requirement will be substituted for the college level coursework.

Work Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible experience supporting the activities and operations of a recreation program including one year of administrative responsibility.

License:

• Valid driver's license.
