SUMMARY: The Coordinator will administer and organize related projects, from simple activities to more complex plans. The Coordinator responsibilities include working closely with the Manager to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, time frames and budgets. The Coordinator will perform various coordinating tasks, that include scheduling, administrative duties, and maintaining program documentation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates with Parks & Recreation team on developing, planning, conducting, and evaluating a variety of programs and services for the community and activities associated with the various programs once established.
Develops and maintains effective relationships with community organizations to plan and deliver programs and services that meet local needs and interests.
Regularly conducts community needs assessments and prepares analysis to identify and develop services and programs.
Develop and manage a master calendar of program schedules; develop and manage annual budgets; monitor income and expenses; evaluate program budgets; write grants to support programs; order program supplies and equipment.
Recruit, select, train and supervises staff and contracted partners; prepare schedules and assigns tasks and special projects; evaluate work performance and correct deficiencies or implement disciplinary procedures with Human Resources as needed.
Lead instruction and curriculum implementation; Conduct training and education classes.
Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
If assigned to Fitness and Wellness:
Teach fitness and wellness classes to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular health, or general fitness, Conduct training and education classes.
Develop marketing campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle and participation in fitness and wellness programs, track attendance, participation, or performance data.
If assigned to Youth Education and Enrichment:
Develop, schedule and coordinate toddler to elementary age youth afterschool, summer camp and other education and enrichment programs; develop, create, and communicate engaging and educational curriculum; conduct needs assessments; facilitate and maintain partnerships with community organizations and partners; recruit sponsorships and donations for programs and events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
If assigned to Fitness and Wellness:
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field
Two years of experience in fitness and wellness programming, including administrative experience and supervision
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
CPR and First Aid Certification.
If assigned to Fitness and Wellness:
Professional certification, or ability to obtain within twelve months through one of the following: CIAR (Certified Personal Trainer), NCHEC (Master Certified Health Education Specialist), ACE (Health Coach Certification), or AFAA (Group Exercise Instructor).
Required Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of effective program management, leadership, supervision, and training.
Experience and enthusiasm for working with individuals of all ages from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
Best practices for inclusive program participation.
Principles, standards, and regulations for developing and implementing budgets.

About Teton County Parks and Recreation Department
Teton County/Jackson is located in western Wyoming and is a gateway community to Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Bridger-Teton National Forest. Teton County is over 76,000 acres, of which 97% is federally owned. Tourism is the driving force of the local economy, and sales tax is the primary funding source for local government services. Approximately 65% of the sales tax base comes from visitors.
Teton County has approximately 30,000 residents, of which 10,000 are in the town of Jackson. Jackson is the only town incorporated within Teton County. A significant number of the residents in Teton County are second homeowners. According to the 2012 Teton County/Jackson Comprehensive plan, the common values of community character are ecosystem stewardship; growth management; and quality of life.
Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department operates as a County agency under a Joint Powers Agreement between the town and county. Department Funding is split between the County at 54% and the Town at 46% based upon the 2020 Census on residential population distribution.
The department has eleven (11) developed parks comprising 60 acres and four (4) undevelop...ed parks comprising 89 acres; a 75,000 square foot recreation center with two gymnasiums, full service health and fitness center, 10,000 square foot indoor climbing gym, 8 lane lap pool, leisure pool, splash down pool/slide tower, therapy pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna; 70 miles of paved multimodal pathways; and management of approximately 1,000 acres of BLM Snake River and State of Wyoming Recreation parcels.
The Department provides youth, adult, and senior recreational programming for the community. A primary responsibility of youth programming is daily afterschool services and summer camp programs. The programming division partners and collaborates with many local non-profit organizations to provide wellness and health services, food insecurity options, and other social service support.
ABOUT THE JOB
Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and passionate individual for the position of Director. Under administrative direction of the Board of County Commissioners’ Administrator, the position manages and directs all phases of the parks and recreation department to meet the community’s need for public parks and recreation programming and facility needs. The Director implements department operation standards and expectations; creates and implements department policies and procedures; supervises and develops performance standards for staff; maintains a cultural of safety for staff and the public; plans, prioritizes, and develops annual revenue and expense budgets while managing overall fiscal accountability of the department; provides short and long-term strategic planning for recreational services and capital development, repair and maintenance; and supports the relationship between staff, other government agencies, and the general public.
The Director is responsible for direct supervision of five full-time staff, and indirect supervision of an additional 105 full-time, part-time and/or seasonal employees. The department has an overall staff of 70 full-time equivalent employees.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Business Management, Facility Management, or related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in recreation management, which includes administrative and fiscal management. A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a director in a department or function required and master’s degree is preferred.
Ability to obtain a Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) Certification is required. CPR/First Aid Certification required within six months of hire date. A valid State of Wyoming or Idaho driver’s license required within 90 days of employment.
The position is full-time, exempt with the hiring salary range of $141,633 – $164,648 per year DOE, inclusive of a strong benefit package.
