Located in central Texas, Travis County Parks is looking for an outstanding Park Supervisor I to join the Parks Department.
The mission of Travis County Parks is to provide places where people recreate outdoors for their health and wellbeing, where they relax, enjoy family and friends, and engage with their community, where regardless of their age and abilities they challenge themselves and play hard, and where they and generations to come enjoy the many wonderful natural and cultural resources of Travis County. The County’s park system has over 13,000 acres of parkland and 30 parks open to the public.
The position supervises and oversees park operations and maintenance programs, management of staff, facility maintenance, sports field maintenance, visitor services, recreation and sports coordination, safety programs and resource protection/maintenance programs for a specific park in Travis County. It enforces park rules, coordinates with sports field user groups, visitors and staff. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this position will focus on turf management of multiple natural grass athletic fields, to include:
implementing best practices in mowing, fertilization, pest management, aeration, moisture management, top dressing and more
ensure proper practices for maintaining and preparing athletic fields for game play

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Business Administration, Turf Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Biology, Conservation, Geology, Wildlife Management, or other related Life Science discipline or a directly related field AND two (2) years of supervisory experience. Minimum of two (2) years of responsible supervisory experience in park operations and maintenance may be substituted for the college degree;

Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Business Administration, Turf Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Biology, Conservation, Geology, Wildlife Management or other related Life Science discipline.
Texas Pesticide and Herbicide Applicator’s License.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional
Certified Sports Field Manager
Landscape Irrigator or Irrigation Technician License
