The duties require a strong background in recreational program settings with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Sport Management or Education. One to three years of experience in parks and recreation management or a related field, with experience in aquatics preferred. The ability to acquire necessary licenses and certifications in accordance with the Board of Health Regulations (LG, LGI, First Aid, CPR & AED and CPO). The candidate must be competent in Microsoft office products and general accounting principles. Familiarity with recreation software is highly encouraged. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Some early morning, evening, weekend and holiday work is required.

Lincoln Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Parks and Recreation
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation will support the Director in the management and operations of recreational programs, events and facilities including the direct oversight of the Codman Pool/Aquatics Programs as well as the Tri-Town Youth Basketball League. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the overall management of department programming, which includes marketing, registration, accounting, instruction/supervision and recruiting and supervising seasonal pool staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, schedule, support and/or supervise age-appropriate classes, activities, and programs for preschoolers, school-age children and adults.
Assist in developing and overseeing town events including town wide celebrations such as Patriots Day, Memorial Day and July 4th.
Market Parks and Recreation programs and events. Responsibilities include creating quarterly print brochures, postcards, flyers, online social media content, and website updates. Conduct community outreach to enhance engagement and increase program participation.
Develop and manage all aspects of the Codman Pool aquatics program, including but not limited to the Codman Swim team, Lincoln Summer Camp swim programs, and Codman Pool swim lessons during the summer season, as the Codman Pool Director.
Ensure the safety, welfare, and operational excellence of the Codman Pool by overseeing facility maintenance, day-to-day operations, and adhere to OSHA and local/state board of health regulations.
Recruit, supervise and train over 60 seasonal staff, including pool supervisors, water safety instructors, lifeguards and gate attendants.
Direct and supervise all aspects of the Tri-Town Basketball League. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ordering uniforms and equipment, conducting player evaluations, coordinating referees as well as recruiting volunteer coaches, scheduling practices, and creating the season game schedule with participating towns.
Assist in scheduling athletic fields and certain indoor facilities at town buildings and the public-school complex.
Perform various maintenance tasks as necessary for the operation of athletic facilities and fields, playgrounds, and tennis courts.
Professionally represent the department in interactions with other town departments, the Lincoln community, neighboring communities, local and state officials and regulatory boards.
Prepare and present various program and facility updates and reports at monthly Parks and Recreation Committee meetings.
Assist in developing and managing program budgets, as well as monitoring expenditures, and ensuring financial accountability.
Perform duties related to office management such as answering the telephone, data entry, light typing, photocopying, and assisting customers with registration.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Must be competent in Microsoft Office Suite and general accounting principles.
Experience with MyRec software or comparable recreation software encouraged.
Experience with Canva and or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and public relations skills, with a focus on safe and engaging programming.
Work within the broad scope of established Parks and Recreation Department policies and goals; refer unusual questions/situations beyond authority and experience to Parks and Recreation Director.
When working independently, must be able to exercise sound judgment and action on behalf of the department and Town.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Sport Management or Education.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervise full-time Program Coordinator, year-round program instructors, 60 seasonal staff and volunteers for events, programs and leagues.
Physical Requirements:
Close eye/hand coordination, finger dexterity, and manipulative ability to ensure accuracy in using computers and other office and recreation equipment.
Duties involve intermittent exertion of physical effort to lift or move light to medium weight materials or equipment as well as use of standard power tools.
Responsibilities involve some degree of outdoor work, exposure to elements, chemical use and loud noise. Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions is essential.
