The purpose of the position is to supervise aquatic programs and special events for a wide variety of age groups while managing multiple aquatic facilities and staff operations. Work involves planning, developing, implementing, promoting and evaluating Aquatic programs and special events.
Examples of Duties
Provides leadership in planning, developing, and implementing Aquatics programs.
Hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates assigned staff; approves and processes timecards; recruits, schedules, and books programs, volunteers, and vendors.
Plans, develops, promotes and evaluates Aquatics programs, classes and events; administers and compiles surveys and maintains records; contributes to website by providing information to the marketing team; maintains inventory of supplies and equipment, identifies and makes recommendations to pool maintenance procedures.
Directs multiple facilities and staff operations or events by scheduling and coordinating activities in conjunction with existing PARD programs; maintains appropriate records and prepares requested reports; maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and identifies and recommends purchasing or reusing items.
Prepares and recommends program budget requests, cost estimates and justifications for needed equipment; maintains appropriate records and prepares requested reports; maintains and approves schedules, maintains open communication with the managers; and prepares purchasing and checking requests. Maintains records and receipts of purchases.
Enforces policies and procedures for staff, swim team representatives, instructors, volunteers, and guests.
Versed in Aquatics operations best practices and maintains appropriate records for staff certifications, in-service trainings, maintenance, and health department requirements.
Plans and executes safety trainings for Aquatics Team: including but not limited to Team Orientations, Lifeguard Trainings, Swim Instructor Trainings, Lifeguard In-service Trainings, CPR/AED Trainings, and Emergency Action Plan trainings.
Assists in the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of city-wide special events.
SPECIALITY AREAS: Lifeguarding, Swim Lessons, Aquatic Classes and Programs, Aquatic Facility Operations / Management, Teen Mentorship, Leagues and Programs, Special Events, and Revenue Based Programs.
Experience and Training
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required. A degree in Parks Administration, Recreation Administration, or a related field is preferred.
One (1) year of experience working with Aquatics programs.
Certificates and Licenses Required
Possession of a valid Texas driver's license.
Ability to obtain an Instructor Certification in Lifeguard Training and Swim Instruction within one (1) year of employment.
