The parks of the National Capital Region encompass more than 87,000 acres of parkland and open space located in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia with thousands of historic structures and archeological sites, hundreds of miles of trails, bike paths, riverfront, scenic parkways, and historic canals.
