The Aquatics Program Coordinator facilitates the operations at Osborn Aquatic Center through development, implementation, promotion, and oversight of water safety education, fitness, therapy, recreation, certification, and other programs for children, adults, and/or senior citizens. Promotes and oversees the facility rental and special event programs. Coordinates the work of casual staff and volunteers.
Full-time 40 hours per week, AFSCME-represented position, 12-month probationary period

Osborn Aquatic Center is equipped with four pools, including an Olympic size 50-meter pool, a warm water teaching pool, a waterpark leisure pool, and a 25-meter lap pool.

Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred.
Two years of related aquatic program experience required. Lead work experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of program implementation and program management for all levels of instruction, including water safety education, fitness and therapy classes, certification classes, and special events.
Thorough knowledge of safe aquatic practices and ability to recognize potentially hazardous situations and/or practices.
Excellent customer service skills, and the ability to interact with groups of all ages and skill levels.
Ability to make decisions in difficult situations, often under pressure.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
Ability to independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments.
Ability to effectively plan, lead, and direct the work of casual employees and volunteers.
Perform in emergency situations and in a hectic environment.
Ability to travel among City worksites, off-site meetings and outreach presentations.
Special Requirements Current CPR/AED and first aid certification required.
Lifeguarding certification obtained within six months of hire if assigned to facility operations.
Lifeguarding Instructor certification must be obtained within the probationary period if assigned coordination of facility operations.
Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer must be obtained within two years of appointment if assigned coordination of facility operations.
Swimming instruction and water safety certification must be obtained within six months of hire if assigned to the swimming and water safety program.
Water Safety Instructor Trainer must be obtained within two years of appointment if assigned to the swimming and water safety program.
Possession or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Oregon Driver’s License.
