Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, the employee in this position will develop, schedule and implement a comprehensive program of athletics, recreational and cultural art programs, including events, programs for Seniors and Youth, as well as other activities for the community and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include the following: manage recreation facilities; oversee implementation of Parks, Recreation and Open Space and Arts and Culture plans; prepare, administer and ensure reporting mechanisms are in place for grants, schedule, train, develop, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; review, monitor and control assigned budgets and assist in budget development; monitor and report on program performance and facility utilization, using industry standards for data collection; serve as a staff liaison on assigned committees.
Duties Include the Following:
Lead staff through the development of recreation program plans, which cover all areas of assigned responsibility, to ensure vision and direction, effective program implementation and cycles of continuous improvement; develop timelines and various feedback mechanisms which inform changes and improvements to program delivery.
Develop, schedule and implement a comprehensive program of athletic, recreational and cultural art programs and activities for the City and surrounding services areas, with a mix of direct service and partner-based offerings.
Promote City parks and recreation activities and facilities, events and activities; work within the City and neighboring jurisdictions to assure balanced and responsive recreational opportunities are offered to community
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Leisure Services, Public Administration or related field.
Five years of recreation program experience including at least two years of experience in a supervisory role with increasing responsibility in parks and recreation management.
