The primary function of this position is to manage, direct, and coordinate the operations and maintenance activities of DC Ranch Community Council shared area amenities, including two community centers, fitness center, Market Street Park, and the extensive path and trail system. The Facilities Director oversees the Senior Managers of Facilities and Maintenance/Custodial. Additionally, the Facilities Director is responsible for the administration of the computerized asset management system for the Community Centers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the management of the operations and maintenance of DC Ranch Community Council shared area amenities, community centers, fitness center, Market Street Park, and path and trail system.
Monitor overall condition of facilities to ensure that physical attributes are safe, welcoming, and consistent with DC Ranch’s high standards and guarantee an exceptional experience for stakeholders.
Develops and implements best management practices, policies and procedures for community centers and other facilities, amenities and their use that incorporate the highest standard of customer service and safety for residents and guests.
Conduct ongoing analysis of the guest “experience” at the community centers and actively address areas for improvement. Engage with residents to foster connections and assess resident services regularly.
Coordinate development of, budgeting for, and implementation of the Community Council’s reserve budget with the Director of Financial Operations by conducting an annual update and provide contract oversight for all reserve projects in keeping with the Community Council goals and reserve funding schedule. Coordinate with appropriate parties on implementation of reserve projects. Facilitate a third-party, on-site reserve study every three years.
Oversee the Community Council’s capital budget by proposing project ideas to the Executive Director on an annual basis and by providing contract oversight for all capital projects.
Develop a long-term facility use plan that considers community growth, programming demands, recreation trends, aging facilities, and related factors.
Contribute to implementation and oversight of the DC Ranch master plan.
Oversee community center team and ensure that procedures are being conducted in the spirit of community building and in keeping with safety and security guidelines.
Provide leadership to team members to initiate projects and programs that contribute to making the community centers and other amenities a place where residents gather and connect.
Collaborate with security staff to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place. Provide risk management practices and lead the tri-annual risk assessment project. Ensure all safety rules, regulations and procedures are followed; make sure that employees are trained in safety procedures.
Develop practices to ensure facility operations are implemented cost effectively and in accordance with DC Ranch standards and values, including facility access and preventative maintenance, utilizing technology and other solutions as appropriate.
Guide team members as they plan and develop budgets for community center operations, including the collection and analysis of supporting data to ensure goals and needs are met.
Collaborate with Ranch Association facilities, maintenance, and landscaping staff to develop processes, scopes of services, and practices that guarantee effectiveness of proactive operations and quick resolution to problems.
Oversee the community’s paths and trails system both through programming and by working collaboratively with the Ranch Association’s staff on the budgeting, maintenance, and upkeep.
Ensure all facilities comply with city, county, and state ordinances.
Oversee preparation and coordination of requests for proposals and qualifications and manage vendor and independent contractor relationships.
Manage projects and supervise construction or repair projects to ensure minimum disruption to core activities. Creating/negotiating contracts with service providers?
Assists with and coordinates facilities and custodial staff support for DC Ranch Community Council event and program set-up and other logistics as needed. Participate in development and implementation of goals, objectives, and processes for events, with particular emphasis on staging, logistics and facility needs; assist with audio/visual setup for meetings.
Present to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and others in a professional, organized manner, via both strong written and verbal communication skills.
Serve as a member of the Leadership Team as a strong organizational leader, support the Executive Director’s efforts and contributing to discussions on organization-wide long-term planning and employee growth and development.

Mentoring & Supervision of Facilities
Supervises, directs and evaluates senior managers who are responsible for community center maintenance, facility rental program, and part time customer service personnel, addresses employee concerns, counsels, disciplines and completes performance evaluations; conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions.
Oversee strategic development for the maintenance and facilities teams.
Provide professional development and job performance mentoring to senior managers.
Ensure they have the tools, support, and action necessary to inform and engage stakeholders
Identify opportunities to promote community values and position DC Ranch as a vibrant community.
Maintain expert knowledge of trends as they relate to primary and secondary audiences, stakeholders, and constituents to aid in the recalibration of strategies and plans.
Work with Sr. Maintenance & Custodial and Facilities Managers to develop and achieve annual goals
Work closely with community partners and service providers.
Participate in day-of event and program set-up/tear-down activities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in facilities management, construction, hospitality, business administration or related field; and
Advanced courses in leadership, supervision, and management
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in community center or comparable facility operations and budgeting including at least four (4) years of supervisory experience.
DC Ranch is a 4,400-acre community located adjacent to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in north Scottsdale, Arizona. The community is composed of 25 diverse neighborhoods within four distinct villages that interact with shared open spaces to create a sense of living with the land. The first home was completed in 1997, and there are currently 2,800 homes and approximately 7,000 residents on the Ranch. DC Ranch is governed by three entities: DC Ranch Community Council, Ranch Association, and the Covenant Commission.
