Approximate annual salary of $95,000-$105,000, but will be determined based on successful candidate’s qualifications, plus our fringe benefits package. Cranberry Township, Butler County, is seeking applicants for a full-time Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. Cranberry Township is a vibrant growing community with beautiful facilities and recreation programs for all ages Amenities and programs include multiple park locations with world-class facilities, a waterpark, pre-school programming, fitness programming, sports facilities and programs, including pickleball, dek hockey, and basketball. As the Director of Parks and Recreation, the incumbent for this position will play an integral role in maintaining, promoting and continually growing the Township’s recreational offerings.
The Parks and Recreation Director is primarily focused on the strategic and long-term planning for the Township’s parks and recreation services and overseeing and developing department employees. Position requires extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in parks and recreation management that can be used to develop policies and procedures as well as determining efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organization’s business strategies. The successful candidate will be able to connect quickly with people in a poised, engaging and empathetic and enthusiastic way in order to complete tasks and will be integral in motivating others. This position will entail working at an extremely fast pace and the successful candidate will be able to successfully take initiative, lead conversations and manage multiple priorities to manage both the day-to-day operations of the Parks and Recreation Department and work to develop and implement long-range plans for the department. The ability to understand, quickly react and motivate others to adapt to the changing organization environment is a critical key to success. The successful candidate will be able to handle all aspects of tasks, from the initiation to completion.

Required Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, park and resources management, resort management, public administration, or related field; supplemented by ten (10) years of experience in Parks and Recreation operations, including three (3) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
The successful candidate must have a valid, insurable driver’s license and maintain a certification in CPR and First Aid/AED or willing to obtain it within four months of employment. Applicant must have FBI, Child Abuse and PA Criminal clearances upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in recreation management, park and resources management, resort management, public administration, or related field; supplemented by at least two (2) years of experience related to leading and managing an entire division or department, including strategic planning and employee development experience. Early Childhood Education, aquatics, and/or youth sports certifications are preferred.
