Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota invites applications for a full-time position in Athletic Training. The person will be responsible for providing athletic training services to a variety of intercollegiate NAIA sports. Sport coverage will be determined based on a candidate’s strengths, the needs of the athletic training unit, and a candidate’s prior professional experience. The opportunity to teach occasional courses in the university’s Sport, Exercise & Wellness/Pre-Athletic Training Programs is possible based on the candidate’s education & background. Start date will be between July 1 and August 1 2023. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The DWU Master of Athletic Training Education Program is a CAATE accredited program. This position will also serve as a preceptor for this educational program.
The successful candidate will:
•Possess BOC Certification and eligible for SD State Licensure.
•Prevent athletic injuries & illnesses as well as treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
•Assist with athletic sport coverage – including practices and games.
•Master’s degree strongly preferred (possible exception for individuals with extensive, successful, documented professional experience).
•Willing to approach teaching and learning in innovative ways that generate interest in the discipline in the clinical environment (i.e., in the role of preceptor).
•Be comfortable with, or willing to learn, the use of digital technologies to enhance student engagement, learning, and clinical practice including electronic medical records system. •Be committed to mentoring students as a preceptor.
