I. General Summary of Overall Responsibilities

Reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation to perform administrative and supervisory duties and direct all phases of assigned recreation programs and special events. Exercise direct supervision over full time, part time, volunteer, and seasonal staff. To provide a total recreation program that will serve and meet the community's needs with active and passive activities. Will be evaluated through observation, conferences, and written evaluations.

II. Listing of Individual Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plans, organizes, schedules, markets, and supervises a variety of recreational programs, athletic leagues, and special events for the community.
2. Establishes standards for facilities and athletic programs, activities, and participation.
3. Updates recreational and athletic league by-laws and rules for consistent and effective athletic program operation. Updates website information, program and league schedules, and standings.
4. Solicits and procures alternative revenues such as sponsorships from local businesses for various programs and special events.
5. Responds to suggestions and complaints in a positive and professional manner. Interprets rules and mediates disagreements of program and league operations.
6. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, monitors, supervises, and evaluates full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, officials and coaches for assigned programs.
7. Participates in preparing assigned budgets, submits purchasing orders, and monitors budget expenses throughout the fiscal year.
8. Prepares bid specifications and requisitions for new equipment; purchases some items directly.
9. Assists the Director with long range planning and goals for assigned events/programs.
10. Performs community outreach, researches, and analyzes data for recommendations to the Director of Parks and Recreation concerning additions, deletions, and changes in programs; implements approved changes.
11. Adheres to safe work practices and procedures.
12. Attends and participates in staff meetings and related activities; attends workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge.
13. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field with a minimum of five (5) years in supervising recreational sports activities, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Proficient in computer skills related to Microsoft 365.
• Experience with CivicRec preferred.

• Must have current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification or equivalent or obtain within 6 months.
