The City of Garden City is looking for an energetic professional with management experience who can lead the team that’s already in motion improving the City’s programs and facilities. Our ideal candidate thrives on envisioning, planning, and executing large-scale projects that make a lasting, positive impact right where it counts. Currently, the City has multiple projects that you could be a part of, such as designing a new community center and re-imagining our eight (8) city parks.
Beyond the visionary aspect though, we need someone with great leadership abilities who will oversee and direct the four divisions within the department, including ten (10) full-time employees and up to 25 part-time employees.
The qualified candidate for this position holds a four-year degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management, Recreation Management, Public Administration, Nonprofit Leadership and Management, Public Administration, or other related field, along with seven (7) years of progressive supervisory experience in a similar setting.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Manager and is reviewed through conferences, meetings, and reports for results obtained.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Competitive candidates will have the above qualifications along with extensive program management, special event coordination, supervisory, and budgetary experience in local government, or a combination of any or all the above. A CPRP/CPRE license or other advanced training is desirable.
