Under general supervision, the Senior Park Ranger assists with the planning and development of the Park Ranger Program and provides leadership to the Rangers.
Examples of Duties
Plans, organizes, directs, and reviews development and coordination of Park Ranger program.
Works with public and other entities to resolve issues; schedules assigned rangers and performs record keeping and report writing. Coordinates training and development for rangers; issues and tracks equipment and schedules the park ranger's daily activities to ensure effectiveness based on current trends and circumstances.
Educates rule violators and enforces certain ordinance violations. Patrols parks, trails, and facilities for deteriorating or unsafe conditions. Provides first aid and emergency response as well as requests emergency medical services when appropriate.
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the program; assisting in preparing the annual budget; developing long-range goals; and developing and evaluating plans and criteria for a variety of educational outreach projects.
Provides conflict resolution for citizen complaints.
Experience and Training
Associate's degree or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Three (3) or more years of experience as a Park Ranger or in a similar position.

Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License or ability to obtain prior to first day of employment.
