We are seeking a Recreation Director at Hemlock Farms Community Association. This is a top level management position which holds responsibility for the overall operation of the HFCA Recreation Department which covers a Community Clubhouse with a natatorium including an indoor pool, hot tub, wading pool, steam room & sauna, two outdoor pools, eight tennis courts, six pavement courts and two har tru clay courts, six pavement pickleball courts, four beach areas, boat docking facilities, two handball/paddleball courts, two bocce ball courts, one baseball field, three basketball courts, a volleyball court, a playground, a Day Camp Building, and a Youth Center. Candidates must possess a positive attitude and strong management skills. The Recreation Director reports directly to the Community Manager and cooperates with other members of the administrative staff team. There are 7 direct reports to this position and a staff that can fluctuate from 140 year-round to 250 employees seasonally.
Must possess financial, human resource, and management skills. Position requires exceptional Customer Service, public relation and communication skills (written and verbal). Time management and stress management knowledge a plus. Must be able to motivate staff and project a positive attitude.
Position requires availability on weekends.
Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services preferred.
Experience in aquatic facility management, pool operation and park management along with supervisory experience necessary. Experience with sports programs and day camp operations preferred.
Pesticide Applicator and Certified Pool Operator certifications required. Playground Inspector preferred. Standard First aid and CPR recommended.
Hemlock Farms Community Association is one of the largest private developments on the East Coast, with 75 miles of paved roads, tennis courts, 4 lakes, a private Country Club and golf course (limited to members and their guests), boat docks and beaches, 1 indoor pool, 2 outdoor pools and 1 ball field.
A nine member Board of Directors governs the membership of HFCA. There are many Standing and Ad Hoc Committees who review issues and recommend and advise the Board of Directors about them. The Community has its own Public Safety Department, Central Water System, and Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company (which is independent of the Community Association and which also serves the area outside Hemlock Farms).
During the summer months our population swells. The Teen Center, Community Clubhouse, Day Camp, Tennis Courts and ball fields are in regular use, along with swimming in the pools and fishing and boating on the lakes
