About River Parks Authority
The River Parks Authority is a public trust authority created to oversee the development and maintenance of the Arkansas River corridor within Tulsa County for public park/recreation and economic development purposes. Primary operating funding is provided by grants from the City of Tulsa and Tulsa County, supplemented by significant private fund-raising for capital improvements and public events. Staff size: thirteen full-time positions. Annual operating budget for Fiscal 2022: $2.2 million. The organization is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees. River Parks is a highly-visible, heavily-used linear park that currently includes over 1100 acres. Facilities include over twenty six miles of asphalt recreation trails, a low-water dam, and multiple park nodes with picnic/play areas, parking and restrooms. Maintenance levels range from high-intensity to natural, wilderness areas.
