Manages the daily operations within one of the Recreation Divisions within the Parks & Recreation Department. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, supervise staff, interact with a diverse population of people, keep records, maintain equipment and be creative in problem solving and program development.

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the personnel, equipment, facilities, and finances assigned to the department, including hiring, training, reviewing performance, and scheduling of work
  • Develops, implements, and supervises recreation programs and activities for all age groups and interests
  • Develops senior citizen programming and stays current with senior philosophies, trends, and practices
  • Manages issues and concerns related to senior and active adult population
  • Solicits community and organizational support for senior services programs
  • Provides recreation services ensuring ADA compliance
  • Ensures daily, weekly, and monthly attendance records are prepared/maintained for class meetings and drop-in facility use
  • Schedules, evaluates, and promotes assigned programs
  • Coordinates daily and long-term facility rental contracts with user groups
  • Supervises recreation staff, seasonal staff, and contractors
  • Coordinates the publication of recreation events and programs with Marketing and Communication Department
  • Coordinates and maintains schedules of assigned facilities and areas
  • Assists with budget preparation and monitors the Recreation budget and expenses
  • Conducts program registration and assist with computer input, to include but not limited to cancellations, refunds, and informs participants of class changes or cancelations
  • Catalogs and maintains supplies and equipment for assigned facilities and programs
  • Coordinates schedule of maintenance for assigned facilities and recreation equipment
  • Ensures that monthly safety inspections are conducted and documented. Initiates corrective action as necessary
