The City of Covington is seeking an enthusiastic professional to plan, coordinate, design, direct, evaluate, and manage development and modification projects for parks and recreation facilities in a young, dynamic city. The successful candidate will help grow park facilities and services tailored to a welcoming and active community. Major responsibilities of this position are assisting with short- and long-term planning, grant applications/administration, and project/construction management. This position requires an individual able to manage a sizable workload while bringing a positive energy to their work environment; complete projects in a timely manner; interface congenially with a diverse audience in both an office setting and in the field; and a key contributor on a collaborative city team that strives to promote the citywide values of Team, Positivity, Integrity and Innovation.
Minimum criteria: A Bachelor’s Degree in park planning, landscape architecture, engineering or a related design, planning or construction management plus two (2) years of related work experience. Any combination of experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the job, including a sufficient amount of additional work experience in lieu of a degree, may be considered.
Special requirements: Successful completion of a national criminal background check and reference check; possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license, or the ability to obtain a Washington State license within one month, and a satisfactory driving record; and proper documentation to fulfill the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act within three (3) days of employment.
