The Community Development Department is seeking a dynamic, energetic individual that enjoys interacting with people to join the Division of Parks, Culture and Recreation. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging visitors at City-owned facilities. This position works to ensure the success of recreational opportunities by creating unique and enjoyable experiences to highlight our city spirit and charm.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week and requires night and weekend work as scheduled.
Essential Job Functions:
Job responsibilities will include: maintaining a high level of customer service as well as providing event site-supervision to include setting up for concerts and events, meeting bands, monitoring crowds, breaking down equipment, and locking and securing the premises. The candidate will work closely with staff, volunteers, and contractors.
Educational requirements include a two year degree in Parks and Recreation related programs or supplemented by two (2) years related experience in event management, or recreational program administration. Candidates will be evaluated on a combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must exhibit strong leadership skills; must have the ability to work independently and as part of a group; must exhibit strong communication skills and have a flexible schedule. Must have a valid Virginia state driver's license.
