SCHEDULE

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
 
Performs advanced professional work planning and supervising the activities of the Boca Raton Summer Camp, Youth & Teen Programs, and operations at a recreation facility; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised over full and part-time employees.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
Coordinates, manages, and schedules Summer Camp and out of school days; Supervises, trains and schedules staff; evaluates employee's work performance; Plans, organizes, and supervises Youth and Teen programs, and participants;
Responsible for screening applications for facility- use by outside parties, checks special permit requirements, collects fees for instructors/vendors, special events, and private use;
Oversees the cleanliness and maintenance of facility and surrounding grounds; Administers center budget; purchases supplies and equipment for center; Schedules, organizes, and maintains records for room/facility usage; writes permits;
Develops new Youth and Teen programs,, makes community contacts, recruits instructors and volunteers, determines schedules, prepares press releases;
Manages offices including maintaining records, preparing reports, creates and makes presentations
 
RELATED TASKS:
 
Prepares budget; helps monitor and control expenditures; Enforces center policies and maintains order;
Posts information regarding center activities and schedules; Assists with special events;
Performs related tasks as required
Organizes field trips, service-learning Projects and tutoring.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
Thorough knowledge of child enrichment programs in a recreation center environment;
General Thorough knowledge of the operation of a recreation center; thorough knowledge of office management practices; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation planning, programming, and operations; ability to maintain order in a public facility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, associates, and the general public; ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates. Skilled in the use of office equipment and -personal computers, including Microsoft applications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration and considerable experience in operating and supervising recreation facilities. Two (2) years of related experience in supervising Camps, Youth and Teen programs and recreation programs.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Possession of a valid State of Florida driver's license with no more than six (6) points in the past three (3) years. May require additional license and certificates by NRPA and FRPA
