The City of Hillsboro is excited to begin the search for new Recreation and Sports Program Supervisors! We’re actively developing new ways to serve our customers, and the new Recreation Supervisors will be integral in advancing our City goals, Council Goals and Priorities with a lens on diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are blending Recreation and Sports programming to deliver a more inclusive experience that addresses the diverse community we serve. You will have the opportunity to deliver services City wide in partnership with other City departments and community partners.
Current/Upcoming Projects: Our new Recreation and Sports Program Supervisor will be developing and delivering new camps, classes, and programs as well as re-imagining existing programs for a fresh look and experience. The successful candidate will be working with a creative and innovative team to break away from tradition and embrace new community-based programming that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.

Acceptable Experience and Training: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Education or Public Administration or a closely related field and 3 years of recreation and/or programming experience in assigned area of responsibility including 2 years of supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

SKILL IN: • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards; • Supervising, monitoring, training and evaluating staff; • Prioritizing and assigning work activities and projects; • Coordinating, facilitating and delivering the activities, programs and projects of assigned area; • Managing emergency situations (based on area of assignment); • Monitoring and maintaining equipment, systems and facilities of assigned area; • Performing research and analysis; • Identifying issues and recommending solutions; • Developing, preparing and maintaining records, reports, marketing and communication materials; • Developing and updating policies and procedures and ensuring compliance; • Monitoring and adhering to safe work practices; • Providing community outreach and customer service; • Monitoring budget compliance; • Monitoring contract compliance; • Administering grants and preparing grant applications; • Preparing and providing public presentations; • Resolving conflict; • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications; • Promoting a culture of teamwork and communication by working in collaboration and treating coworkers with respect and dignity and maintaining an open mind to diverse voices and ideas.
