Under the general direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation, the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities is responsible for the management, maintenance and operations of sports fields, park open spaces, trails, indoor ice rink, and the outdoor aquatic facility, as well as work crews and equipment.
Successful applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation with a focus in Facility and/or Sports Management, Natural Resources, or related field. Equivalent years of relevant experience may be substituted for education. Salary range of $43k – $65k, commensurate with experience. Generous benefit plan includes retirement, health and dental insurance.

Required Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience in, or commitment and potential to learn, park and facility, personnel, and financial management.
Demonstrated progressive responsibility.
Knowledge of, or commitment and potential to learn, sports turf management, ice arena operations, aquatic facilities management.
Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and effectively with the public, staff, and volunteers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications.

The Hartford Parks and Recreation Department is a year round national accredited agency.The department services a population of 10,000 with offering a variety of leisure programs, comprehensive athletics and special events. The department manages an outdoor sports complex, ice arena, and public properties consisting of thirteen parks.
