This is professional, administrative work responsible for directing a comprehensive program at county recreation facilities, with emphasis on the Intergenerational Recreation Center. Works independently under the general direction of the Recreation Venue Manager.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Business Administration or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of two years of experience administering recreation programs and facilities, including supervisory experience. An Associates of Arts degree with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Parks and Recreation programs to include directly related experience with venue programs, maintenance, operations, and facility management may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree at time of hire. Under this provision, the Bachelor’s degree must be obtained within four years of date of hire.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Valid Florida Driver’s License
Must obtain Crowd Management Certification within 30 days of being hired.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Thorough knowledge of recreation philosophy and theory with considerable emphasis on best practices and techniques of hospitality based facilities management.
Ability to plan, coordinate, organize, and staff recreation facilities and programs for the benefit of county residents and visitors.
Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate staff to achieve program goals and maintain facilities.
Ability to make written and oral presentations of plans, programs and budgets.
Skill and knowledge of all phases of venue management and program activity.
Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner and establish effective working relationships with staff, management, key stakeholders and the general public.
Ability to demonstrate flexibility and teamwork in a recreational venue and non-athletic programming, special events and park activity to achieve operational objectives.
Performs other duties and assignments when requested by administration.
Will be required to work nights, weekends, some holidays and be responsive during declared emergencies.
