The Bristol Bay Parks and Recreation Department is one of the smallest departments in the country. 2 Full Time employees and a couple of teen lifeguards currently serve just under 1000 residents. The department offers an internship for each semester. We can offer individuals the opportunity to learn about pool operations, lifeguarding, programming and event management. If you are a current lifeguard, we may arrange for the selected individual to attend and obtain a Lifeguard Instructor Certification, prior to coming out to Bristol Bay. We believe that we can partner with university students preparing to enter the field of parks and recreation management and assist them in gaining all the skills and abilities that will help our next generation of professionals succeed, while they in turn help us to offer a wider variety of programming and event opportunities.
The internship is for the Fall 2021 season/semester. It is anticipated to begin in August/September and run through November/December for up to 15 weeks.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification NOT required for selection, but will be required before beginning the internship. Ellis & Associates or Starguard certifications are acceptable as well.
2 openings. Employer will assist with relocation costs.
Additional Salary Information: The Borough will provide airfare to and from the internship as well as provide lodging.
