We are seeking an Activity Program Coordinator to become an integral part of our team working in one of Wisconsin's finest Senior Activity Centers. You will be assisting in implementing the vision, mission and core values established by The Gathering Place. RESPONSIBILITIES a. Develops, implements, maintains, coordinates, schedules, and evaluates TGP programs, services, and activities which will contribute to the maintenance of the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of seniors. b. Responsible for obtaining and set-up of equipment for all programs, introduction of programs, clean-up, and evaluation of programs and activities. c. Works with Executive Director to enhance the visibility of TGP programs, services and activities by: assisting with the development and distribution of program brochures, writing weekly articles for the local newspaper and other media; and coordinating other program publicity efforts as necessary. d. Recruit, train and oversee program volunteers. e. Develop and maintain an activity program information file. f. Performing other duties as necessary. WORK EXPERIENCE a. Two (2) years of responsible experience in the development and/or implementation of programs and activities applicable to seniors or and at least two (2) years of college or technical school training in gerontology, recreation, therapeutic recreation, social work or a related field. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE a. Self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to perform well defined assignments from a supervisor but with minimal guidance. b. Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, under pressure. c. Demonstrate skilled proficiency with the operation of a computer including Word, Excel and other social media platforms. d. Ability to relate to seniors in a constructive and understanding manner. e. Ability to interact with a variety of people including seniors, staff and volunteers. f. Ability to train volunteers of all ages. g. Ability to edit and write creatively. h. Ability to perform other duties as assigned. Must possess a valid driver's license, a reliable motor vehicle and auto insurance, with required statutory minimum limits from a company authorized to do business in Wisconsin.
