Job Summary Caltech seeks a Head Athletic Trainer to lead our sports medicine team. This is a full time, exempt position with excellent benefits. The position reports to the Athletic Director. The position will be posted in June and review will begin immediately and continue until the position is successfully filled. No later than July 15 ,2021 is the expected start date. The Head Athletic Trainer is a critical leader in our intercollegiate program focused on student health and as a member of our overall department. The Head Athletic Trainer is a partner in the care of student athletes competing in the intercollegiate athletic programs and supervises the sports medicine aspect of our intercollegiate program. Job Duties Prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses, providing health counseling and fitness support to students as part of their overall educational experience. Attend home practices and contests; coordinate student and team ATC coverage and health risk management. Occasionally attend away contests. Record keeping and documentation, assist students navigating the health insurance and health care system. Collaborate effectively with coaches and department support staff to ensure student health aspect of eligibility compliance and priority on student health. Collaborate effectively with campus health center, team doctor and other allied health professionals to deliver first class quality care to students Fulfill the responsibilities of NCAA Athletics Health Care Administrator and all NCAA reporting requirements including managing our concussion management plan. Responsible for administrative duties including but not limited to supplies inventory and ordering, maintenance of equipment and ATC room, scheduling of additional ATC special event staff, supervision of 2 assistant athletic trainers. Participate in whole department committees and meetings Demonstrate positive and effective communication in all aspects of job; including writing, speaking, listening, and non-verbal skills. Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, Institutional, and Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation rules, policies and expectations including commitment to life-long learning, sportsmanship on and off the field of play, positive leadership and the desire and ability to act as a positive role model and representative of the Institute at all times. You will comply with all department, institute, conference and NCAA regulations. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
