GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Athletic Manger is responsible for all aspects of the Sports Fitness and Aquatics operations for the City. This position plans the institution's sports program, to include intramural sports programs and tournaments, as well as additional activities made possible through available resources. Develops, improvises, and adapts the various recreational activities to the wide range of participant interests and needs, and must meet the limitation of funds, facilities, equipment, and volunteer and other staff support available. Create annual schedules, budgets and monitor expenses between departments to ensure all activities are following the proper. Report to the director as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversees the operations of the adult sports program, adult community education programs, senior programs, and youth and teen programs.
Review and approve final billing prior to release of invoices. Manage collections and approve special rates.
Plan, schedule and implement all recreational sports fitness and aquatic programs.
These programs will support leagues, tournaments, clinics and classes for children, adults, families, and senior citizens.
Coordinate all athletic field rentals, contract and
Maximize program participant health/safety: conduct or provide on-site supervision of programs as required; requisition supplies; organize registration and instructor staffing.
Develop recommendations for recreational programs that serve community needs; research recreational needs of the public; analyze related proposals and prepare recommendations for City or department management consideration.
Develops, implements, and effectively administers and manages operational budgets to include financial reports, revenue generation, operational costs, and cost recovery requirements.
Develops facility fee structure recommendations for all areas of programming.
Conducts or coordinates investigations of accidents and incidents; prepares subsequent reports and makes recommendations for improvement.
Establishes officiating policies, rules and procedures for the efficient operation of in-house sports programs.
Coordinates registration for various recreational programs; schedules recreational facilities for programs and events.
Promote, organize and maintain an inclusive work environment
Create annual calendars, communication plans and marketing strategies for the department.
Analyzes community needs, develops action plans to meet the City priorities while using staff, outside agencies and organizations to define and resolve service issues.
Develops, implements and effectively administers and manages operational budgets to include financial report, revenue generation, operational, cost and cost recovery requirements.
Manage all purchases within the department that include: Performing cost analysis, obtaining quotes, evaluating expenses, developing budgets, establishing capital projects and submitting agenda items for board approval.
Adhere to and assist in formulation, updating and enforcement of policies, guidelines, evaluations, goals, and objectives for the department.
Manage employee schedules, time and attendance and process time sheets within the department
Recruit, supervise, train, evaluate and lead staff within the department or as needed
Actively participate in community organizations to foster a positive city image while maintaining a level of customer service standards by investigating and resolving customer complaints.
Identify maintenance concerns, submit work orders, and report monthly on specific maintenance needs
Perform other duties as assigned

Demonstrated knowledge within the activities area to effectively plan, organize, facilitate a comprehensive program.
Ability to deal with a variety of people in structured and unstructured situations.
Ability to work with confidential information while maintaining the highest level of integrity.
Skills to create and analyze budgets with basic accounting principals
Demonstrated computer software proficient and data entry Skill
The ability to organize, analyze issues and communicate in writing or verbally in both small and large groups.
MINIMAL EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelors or Associate Degree in the related field or an Equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requested knowledge, Skills, and abilities for this position.
HIGHLY PREFERRED CANDIDATES:
Master’s Degree in the related field
Executive Certified Parks and Recreation professional/Certified Parks and Recreation professional
5 years of progressive management experience
5 years of relative programming experience
5 years of supervisory experience
5 years of budgeting experience
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Satisfactorily complete an employment verification.
Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations.
Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Must be able to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
Must be able to work alternating shifts, hours and days based on need.
