Aquatics, Health & Wellness, Recreation, Recreation Programming
Under general supervision, is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating organized group activities at Aquatics Facilities and Community Events. Working conditions are both in indoor and outdoor facilities. Exercises functional supervision over assigned staff.
Work location will alternate between Darner COF, the Natatorium, and various outdoor pools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Holds regular staff meetings and coordinates pool programs including swim lessons, aqua fitness classes, special events, and lap swim.
Assigns workers' duties and responsibilities as necessary to facilitate the program.
Assumes responsibility for the building and grounds, including completing maintenance reports.
Schedules rooms, recreation areas, and fields pools for use.
Assumes responsibility for equipment and supplies, keeping inventory current, and ordering new materials and equipment as needed.
Conducts classes, clinics, and special events and acts as resource person concerning aquatic recreational ideas.
Plans and promotes a program of safety at the Pool or park.
Speaks at Community Clubs, Parent Teacher Associations, and other organizations on aquatic recreation programs.
Recruits participants with fliers, emails, and word-of-mouth.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Two (2) years of college courses from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) years of experience in recreation activities.
This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License. Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of Liability Insurance will be required.
Minimum one (1) year of experience in staff recruitment.
Minimum one (1) year of experience in program development to include special events.
Minimum one (1) year of experience with aquatics programs, in water safety education, swimming lessons, and aqua fitness.
