Under general direction, is responsible for assisting with the planning and administration of municipal recreational programs. Accountable for technical work in a recreational specialty, and administrative work in assisting in the planning and promotional phases of the programs. Working conditions are indoors and outdoors. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Approves, coordinates, implements, and reviews program activities and special events at the Natatorium.
Schedules rooms, recreation areas, facilities, and pools for community use when requested.
Promotes and refers citizens to community programs that best meet their needs.
Assumes responsibility for equipment and supplies. Keeps inventory current, and orders new materials and equipment, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing 10-15 pounds.
Assumes responsibility for the building and grounds, including completing maintenance reports and making suggestions for new facilities, when needed.
Speaks at Community Clubs, PTA, and other organizations on aquatic recreation programs.
Assists in preparing, reviewing, monitoring, and compiling program budgets.
Plans, organizes, promotes, reviews, and directs aquatic programs, swimming meets, lifesaving instruction sessions, and other related responsibilities, depending on area of assignment.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) years of experience instructing and/or implementing and evaluating recreation programs.
This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License OR valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of Liability Insurance will be required.
Experience in supervising pool facilities.
Knowledge of pool maintenance and operations.
Experience in aquatics programming and events, swimming lessons, fitness programs, swim teams, and swim meets.
Experience in developing promotional plans and recruiting participants for programs.
