Deputy Director of Administration and Development
Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a nationally recognized leader in land use planning, parks, and recreation, is seeking a strategic leader to be its Deputy Director of Administration and Development. This newly created position will exercise oversight of the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of major park and recreation facility improvements and interact with government and community stakeholders to keep them apprised of the progress on highly anticipated projects. The Deputy Director oversees park planning and development, management services, information technology, public affairs and marketing, and special projects. Major functions within the Administration and Development Operation include managing the development of the Department's six-year $275M capital budget, long-range master planning for parks and recreation facilities and services; construction management and architecture, land acquisition, research and evaluation, as well as department-wide responsibility for policy development and analysis, training and organizational development, information technology, data management systems, and customer service programs.

The successful candidate will have a degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, recreation management/administration, business administration, engineering, or a comparable field, advanced degree preferred, and 10 years of senior level management experience, with at least five years as an executive or department head of a comparably complex organization engaged in the delivery of public parks and recreation services or similar services related to providing infrastructure and community programs. An equivalent combination of education and management experience will be considered. Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) designation as granted by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is a plus. Successful candidates will demonstrate visionary leadership, a passion for building community and quality of life, and successful experience delivering multi-year capital improvement projects and in cultivating effective working relationships with the Board and staff at all levels of an organization. The starting salary for this position will be based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. Additional Salary Information: The starting salary for this position will be based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
