The City of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department has an opportunity for a Recreation Supervisor to join their Management team.
We are seeking candidates with a passion for community programming to provide leadership to our aquatic and sports section. This position will supervise operations and management of three municipal aquatic facilities and the youth and adult sport programs run by the City.
Experience with agency accreditation, Active Net software program and municipal, state, or governmental (Veterans Affairs or Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs in the armed forces) recreation services and working in a union environment is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of State Public Swimming Pool codes and related Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Thorough knowledge of pool filtration systems (sand) and pool water chemistry.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in recreation, physical education, business or public administration, or a closely related field.
Have at least five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience with recreation services which includes two (2) years of lead experience overseeing temporary, permanent or collective bargaining unit represented employees.
A related Master’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience.
