PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Develop and implement divisional goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts related to the programs, services, and facilities managed and maintained by the Parks Division.
Prepare the Parks Division budget; assist in budget implementation; participate in forecasting future needs; administer the approved budget.
Direct Parks Division capital improvement projects including contracts, construction, management, coordination, quality control and oversight.
Prepare reports and presentation materials for various boards, committees, and City Council meetings. Represent the Community Services Department with a variety of meetings with outside agencies.
Plans, coordinates, supervises, and manages inspection, maintenance and repair of parks and equipment, in compliance with Department procedures and City policies.
Inspects parks and park facilities to ensure proper care and maintenance of park properties
Supervises the grounds maintenance and safety programs.
Supervises the park improvement projects, and repair and maintenance of the facilities.
Supervises staff and evaluates performance; monitors operations to identify and resolve problems and priorities; determines equipment, material, and personnel needs.
Reviews and inspects the work of the assigned staff to assure the work quality, and the timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Use a personal computer, or other hand-held communication devices to enter and retrieve information related to work assignments, other record keeping, and electronic communication.
Maintains records and logs of services performed and general maintenance information; reviews and writes reports, analyzes costs, and prioritizes work orders.
Schedules routine and major work projects according to condition and expected use of areas
Estimates and requisitions materials, supplies and equipment.
Assures compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
Coordinates training programs.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervisors and maintenance staff.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors and in office environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Natural Resources, Public Administration, or related field.
Five (5) years increasingly responsible experience in public parks maintenance, parks management, turf management, or related field, including three (3) years supervisory experience.
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Possession of a Valid Arizona Driver’s License; must possess or have the ability to obtain within six months a Certified Pesticide Applicator license in the State of Arizona; specific technical training and certifications may be required.
Additional Salary Information: The City of Casa Grande does not hire at the top of the range but does take into consideration experience.
