The Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, seeks an Executive Director to advance the organization’s mission to help underserved communities create safe and inclusive public skateparks for youth.
The ideal candidate will love skateboarding and bring an authentic, strategic and entrepreneurial leadership style with demonstrated experience helping a nonprofit organization grow significantly in impact and financial stability.
Provide strategic leadership to advance the organization’s mission, vision and strategic goals.
Lead and steward a comprehensive rebranding of the organization from the Tony Hawk Foundation to The Skatepark Project.
Raise awareness of the organization’s impact on the health and well-being of youth and their communities among civic, grassroots, health and municipal leaders nationwide.
Strengthen and diversify revenue streams through existing and new funding for general operations and programs from individual donors, corporate sponsors and grantmaking foundations.
Advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the organization’s programs and among the Board of Directors and staff.
Pursue innovative technology solutions for advocacy, fundraising, communications and human resources management.
Directly supervise the Director of Community Impact and the Director of Development.
Maintain effective and efficient operational standards, controls and systems for accounting, administration, communications, human resources, finances and technology, including the selection and oversight of contracted vendors and consultants as needed.
Ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the organization.
Key Selection Criteria
A master’s degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management, public health or a related social service field is strongly preferred.
A minimum of five years of relevant social or nonprofit sector management experience is required.
Exceptional verbal, written and social media communications skills.
Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising.
Willingness and ability to travel nationally.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.
