Reports to the Aquatics Superintendent and under general direction, plans, promotes, organizes and administers aquatic programs, services and facilities. Assist in providing general oversight of the Aquatics Division including direct management of special and capital projects. Assist in preparation and monitoring of the Aquatics annual budget. Review and update aquatic programs and lifeguarding training standards, policies and procedures in collaboration with the Aquatics Superintendent. Supervise, inspect and monitor aquatic facility contractors. Interview and select new employees. Train subordinates in the technical aspects of pool construction and pool maintenance standards. Inspect the pools, spray-grounds, parks and common areas and recommend improvements. Maintain working knowledge and familiarity with the Texas Department of Health’s “Standards for Swimming Pools and Spas. Assist in the preparation of the Action Guide and other department marketing and advertising materials. Coordinate and work cohesively with the Recreation Division for aquatic programming and pool pass sales. On-call rotation and participate in emergency response activities.
Directly supervisor 3 employees – 2 Program Coordinators and the Pool Tech Foreman.
This is a full-time, year-around position with a non-traditional work schedule.
During the recruitment/training season (January 1 – opening day of pool season) and the Pool Season (May thru September), hours will be flexible and will include weekend, weekday, holiday or nights with two days off during with work week.
Must possess or be able to obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and/or Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification. CPRP preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field and over three years up to and including five years related experience.
