This position is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a comprehensive recreation programming plan for the Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC). Work involves ascertaining the recreational needs of the community; administering classes and special events; planning and implementing afterschool and summer camp programs; coordinating with others to provide quality recreation programming; supervise, directing, and assigning work to assigned staff.
Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, sports management, or a closely related field; master’s degree in parks and recreation, public administration preferred.
Seven (7) to (10) years related work experience involving recreation/athletic program development and management including five (5) to (7) seven years of supervisory experience.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job.
CPRP Certification Required

The Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) is a nationally accredited park and recreation agency located in Richland County, South Carolina. A special purpose district, the Commission was incorporated on June 6, 1960 under the laws of the State of South Carolina by Act 873 for establishment of the Rural Recreation District in Richland County. The Commission offers the community a wide variety of park facilities, programs and events serving Richland County, with annual park visitation of well over 100,000 patrons. RCRC's mission is "Dedicated to enriching lives and connecting communities through diverse recreational opportunities." In order to achieve that mission, RCRC has over 30 parks and/or facilities serviced by approximately 175 full-time positions augmented by approximately 85 part-time employees as well as an additional 200 part-time employees to meet certain seasonal needs.
