Superintendent of Recreation is responsible for all aspects of the Park District’s provision of programs and management of recreation facilities. Program responsibilities include, but not limited to, special events, athletics, health & wellness, educational, outdoor recreation, aquatics, bus trips, cultural arts and programs for individuals with disabilities. Facility responsibilities include, but not limited to, Read Park Family Aquatic Center, Krape Park Mini-golf, Boat Rentals, Carousel, athletic fields and courts, skate park, rental facilities, community centers and all concession operations. Superintendent manages all personnel necessary to carry out program and facility operations of the recreation department including full-time, part-time and seasonal staff. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Parks and Recreation Administration or closely related field with a minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience including 3 years supervisory experience. Must be a proven leader with working knowledge of principles and practices in recreation programming and facility management. Valid Illinois Drivers License required. Must be able to attain Certified Parks and Recreation Professional status, Food Service Sanitation, Lifeguarding Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid and CPR certifications.
