The City of Ventura has an exciting opportunity in the Parks, Recreation and Community Partnerships Department. We are now accepting applications for the position of Recreation and Community Partnerships Coordinator. The current vacancy is assigned to Special Events and the resulting eligible list will be used to fill future vacancies within the Parks, Recreation and Community Partnerships Department during the life of the eligible list.
The Special Events position, will have the highly visible responsibility to coordinate, plan and execute all components of the City's July 4th Street Fair. This will include the application process, event vendors, marketing, and oversight of event volunteers. In addition, this position will also coordinate and maintain the City's special event, film, and block party permit process; communicate policy, procedures, and requirements connected with event permits. Coordinates other special events as assigned.
The ideal candidate is a positive, personable, and organized individual who can coordinate and administer the City's special event permitting process. This candidate will be able to work harmoniously with a wide range of people in the community, including local businesses, public and private organizations, and volunteers of all ages. In addition, this person will be able to work in partnership with City Departments and Divisions including Police, Fire, Parks, Environmental Services, and Risk Management and has exceptional public relations skills and is able to communicate City policies and procedures in a clear, concise, and positive manner. Salary and Benefits The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary plus excellent benefit! Salary: Salary: $4,669 - $5,675 Monthly DOQ

A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of some college course work in a field related to public administration, recreation, cultural arts, or social services, and two years of progressively responsible experience implementing services in the social services, senior services, cultural arts, or recreation field; OR in lieu of college coursework, a total of three years of experience as described above. Depending upon assignment, the ability to speak Spanish, in addition to English, is desirable.
