Athletics/Sports/Fitness, Recreation, Senior Programming, Special Events/Tourism
Plans, organizes, promotes, and directs daily operations for the Revenue and Special Facilities Division, to include Special Populations, Athletics and Yacht Basin. Formulates and implements operating policies and procedures; analyzes and evaluates existing programs and initiates implementation of corrective action.
Prepares and administers budget for assigned program(s) according to established City goals and objectives. Establishes and/or reviews and approves program goals and objectives, monitors and ensures adherence; Establishes/reviews annual fees and charges for program instruction, memberships, facility and equipment rental/use; Ensures sound revenue collection and auditing practices are adhered to; Analyzes and recommends acquisition/development requirements to meet public athletic, boating or recreational needs.
Supervises, schedules and evaluates the performance of personnel and volunteers under charge, rendering discipline as required.
Administers National Alliance for Youth Sports Coaching Program and athletic tournaments; Administers and approves background checks for youth coaches and volunteers; ensures lighting and facilities are in compliance.
Ensures safety of athletic facilities/complexes; establishes/determines need for liability insurance coverage for use/rental of facilities.
Solicits funds through sponsorships, grants, private industry and other potential sources of revenue.
Assists in the research and related studies for the community needs in the county to promote and maintain maximum participation in athletics/programs and facility use.
Performs related duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation, Business Administration, or closely related field.
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation with emphasis in recreational athletic programming and facilities, and addressing the needs of various populations and ages to include developmentally disabled; four (4) years of which must include experience in the administrative aspects of the work at a supervisory level.
Registration with the Florida Recreation and Parks Association, and obtain certification as a Certified Youth Sports Administrator or Certified Parks and Recreation Professional within one (1) year of hire or promotion.
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
