About The Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District
The Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District is a State Government legislated mandate that originated in 1925. We own and operate 14 parks and 4 cemeteries in Cabell and Wayne Counties and the City of Huntington in Southwestern West Virginia. We are a progressive Park District with beautiful facilities that we maintain to a high standard and a Recreation Division that hosts Recreation Programs and Special Events throughout the year. We are typically 30 permanent, full-time employees and hire approximately 20 seasonal workers each Summer. We are a stand-alone agency that is not affiliated with any City or County Government, but work cooperatively with both. The advantages are numerous within the confines of our own budget. We work diligently to improve the quality of life for the resident of and visitors to our area.
