The City of Shawnee Parks & Recreation Department is recruiting for a Manager of Parks & Facilities. This senior leadership administrative position is responsible for all aspects of the management of the Parks Maintenance Division, and is under the general supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director.
This includes fostering a positive working environment, encouraging high level performance, ensuring the safety of employees, and implementing coordinated efforts between divisions of the Parks and Recreation department, as well as other City departments and other agencies. Primary duties include developing, implementing and overseeing the execution of the work plan for the Parks Maintenance division; as well as training, developing and supervising employees. Work is generally performed within an office setting with occasional field work in support of staff. The hiring range for this position is $72,000 - $90,000 (DOQ).
Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Horticulture, Turf Management, Facilities Management or a closely related field
Five (5) years' experience in Parks Maintenance or a closely related field; three (3) years supervisory experience
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with air brakes and tanker endorsement, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Work Zone Safety Certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Possess or have the ability to obtain three of the four certifications below as agreed upon with the Parks and Recreation Director based on department needs:
Spraying License 3A & 3B or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Certified Arborist through the Kansas State Forestry Association or the ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment.
National Playground Safety Inspector (NPSI) Certification or the ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment.
Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification or the ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment.
Or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities identified in this job posting.
